About the channel
An unofficial history of Ford, one model at a time
Model by Model is an independent YouTube channel and website that tells the story of every Ford model in order, starting in 1903 and working all the way to today. Each episode focuses on one model or turning point: where it came from, what made it special, what went wrong, and the fun facts most people never hear.
Along the way, the Rival Files episodes bring in the competition, because the best Ford stories usually involve somebody trying to beat them.
How episodes are researched
- Every key date, number and “first” is checked against at least two independent sources.
- Primary sources come first: archives, museum collections, period documents and books.
- When a story can’t be confirmed, we say so. You’ll hear “records show” for facts and “the story goes” for legends.
- Sources and image credits are listed in each episode’s description and on its page here.
Images and archive material
We use archive photos that are in the public domain or clearly licensed for reuse, such as items marked “no known restrictions” by the Library of Congress and public-domain items from The Henry Ford, with credit. We don’t use Ford’s logos, advertising or press photos.
Corrections
History is full of myths, and we’ll get something wrong eventually. If you spot an error, email hello@modelbymodelhistory.com with the episode and a source, and we’ll fix it and note the correction.
